Boomsday is an annual event taking place on the waterfront. It is the biggest one-day event in the Tennessee state and the largest fireworks show in the southeast United States. People from all over the world come to Knoxville to see this show, and National Geographic have filmed it. Attendance has been estimated at 300,000-350,000.
Cherokee Heritage Days
This is a bright event featuring dressed in authentic period clothing Cherokee Indians. They are demonstrating woodcarving, hide tanning, beadwork, traditional Cherokee singing, dancing, and storytelling. You will find out about the daily life and chores of a Cherokee Man and Woman. Children and Adults are treated to Friendship Dancing, Crafts and Face Painting.
Feast with the beasts
Guests 21 years and older can try the most delectable foods and beverages from area restaurants and vendors. Of course no party is complete without great entertainment. Live bands are playing on stages in the zoo while attendees bid on silent auction items from the zoo's chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers.
